www.linkedin.com/company/ultimate-gaming-championship/Matthew Jackson, the Founder and CEO of Ultimate Gaming Championship, is a seasoned entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the esports industry. His leadership is defined by a commitment to creating sustainable, technology-driven ecosystems that serve students and educators alike. Jackson holds a Master of Architecture from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a background that informs his approach to systems thinking, spatial design, technical planning, and the development of scalable educational environments. His professional foundation also includes architectural technology, CAD, digital fabrication, and curriculum development, giving him a unique ability to connect design, technology, and education in practical ways.
In addition to leading UGC, Jackson serves as Director of Competency Based Education at Rend Lake College, where his work focuses on redeveloping curriculum around demonstrated mastery rather than traditional seat-time requirements. In that role, he helps design learning models that begin with the competencies students must prove, then align curriculum, assessment, and student support around measurable outcomes. This same philosophy shapes UGC’s scholastic esports work: creating pathways where students are motivated by competition, supported by technology, and recognized for what they can actually demonstrate.
Under his guidance, UGC has successfully pivoted to address the growing demand for scholastic esports, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of digital innovation and educational empowerment.
