The Genesis of a Social Enterprise

SGC Akademi was established in early 2023 with a mission to localize the success of the Singapore International Mastery Contests Center (SIMCC) within the Turkish educational landscape. Founded on the principle that education should transcend national borders, the organization serves as a bridge for Turkish students to participate in elite international academic competitions. By aligning with SIMCC—a social enterprise founded by Henry Ong in 2006—SGC Akademi inherited a legacy of fostering intellectual growth through non-traditional, creative problem-solving methodologies.

SIMCC is a leading global education social enterprise... it donates 20% of competition revenues to support students and teachers through the Scholastic Trust Singapore (STS).

Values and Educational Philosophy

At the core of SGC Akademi’s operations is the shift from rote memorization to high-order thinking. The academy believes in the democratization of academic excellence, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds can test their skills against global standards. • Establishing a robust network of over 500 partner schools across Turkey.
• Organizing major international assessments including the VANDA Science Competition and the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO).
• Providing pathways to the Young Achievers Leadership Academy (YALA) and international scholarship opportunities through Southern Illinois University (SIU).
