Brands For Good Awards 2026

Eu Yan Sang's legacy began in 1879 when its founder, Eu Kong, established a small dispensary in the mining town of Gopeng, Perak. Driven by a compassionate desire to alleviate the suffering of Chinese tin miners addicted to opium and plagued by ill health, he provided quality Chinese medicine and herbal remedies. He named the shop 'Yan Sang,' a Cantonese term that literally translates to 'caring for mankind.'
Following the sudden passing of Eu Kong in 1890, his only son, Eu Tong Sen, took over the family business at the age of 21. Despite initial hardships, Eu Tong Sen demonstrated astute foresight, expanding the medical hall's reach into Singapore, Hong Kong, and across Malaya. He firmly branded the business with the family name, establishing Eu Yan Sang as a household name synonymous with trust and quality by the early 20th century.
Under the stewardship of successive generations, particularly through the modernization efforts of Richard Eu, the company transitioned from traditional medicine halls into a modern, integrated TCM enterprise. Today, Eu Yan Sang integrates ancient wisdom with rigorous scientific validation, utilizing 'Herb Fingerprinting' technology to ensure product efficacy and safety. Key achievements include:
"For Eu Yan Sang, corporate giving is aligned with the mission of the company, which is 'caring for mankind'."
Eu Yan Sang's vision is to be the leading health and wellness brand by leveraging its deep TCM wisdom. By staying true to its core philosophy of 'Yan Sang,' the organization aims to empower individuals to live their best quality of life through accessible, natural, and science-backed healthcare solutions.
